The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported Brett Lawrie, the Brewers number one selection in the 2008 draft, has been moved from catcher to second base. This may indicate the Brewers are putting their faith in young catching prospect Angel Salome. This might also indicate the team is not convinced of Rickie Weeks’ potential at second.

Rotation Named For First Spring Games»

Ken Macha has named the starting rotation for the beginning of Spring Training with Jeff Suppan starting Wednesday against the A’s, reports MLB.com. The following rotation is as follows: Yovani Gallardo, Manny Parra, Braden Looper and Dave Bush. Macha will not release the starting rotation or opening pitcher until March 25th.

According to MLB.com Eric Gagne has officially pulled out of the World Baseball Classic to focus on winning a job on Milwaukee’s roster. Gagne, who was on Canada’s provisional team, would miss at least one week of Spring Training if he decided to play in the Classic.
